Flying Finn, Inc. Records, 1954-1960
This collection documents the business activities of Flying Finn, Inc., which produced wooden pleasure boats in the 1950s and early '60s. Contents include company correspondence, advertising proofs and photographs of product lines, blueprints and drawings of boat models, and a history of the company.
Frederick M. Hendrickson Papers, 1902-1958
This collection contains letters, postcards, photographs, and papers of Frederick M. Hendrickson, a 1903 graduate of the New York Nautical School (now Maritime College).
Frederick S. McMurray Papers, 1890-1958
The collection documents the career and life of Frederick S. McMurray (1879-1958), beginning with his training at the New York Nautical School (now the SUNY Maritime College) on the Schoolship "St. Mary's" through his years as an instructor at the New York Nautical School and his service with the United States Navy.
George M. Wauchope Papers, circa 1920s-1970s
This collection consists of correspondence, news clippings, photographs, and scrapbooks documenting Wauchope's distinguished maritime career, including active duty during World War II.
Herbert Lee Seward Collection of Naval Architectural Plans, Technical Specifications, and Other Material, 1889-1955
Collection of naval architectural plans, naval architectural and engineering specifications, and subject files addressing various aspects of ship construction and components, assembled by Mr. Seward, a naval architect, marine engineer, and educator. The architectural plans, created by the firm William Cramp and Sons, date from the early 20th century. Some items in the collection were probably originally obtained by two colleagues of Mr. Seward, Axel Rossell and Horace H. Thayer.
Howard L. Humphries Papers
The Howard L. Humphries papers span the dates of 1936 -2001, with the bulk of the items from the late 1950’s-the mid 1970’s. The collection contains photographs, correspondence, and printed materials. The majority of the correspondence pertains to the Alumni Association, of which Howard L. Humphries was president from 1974-1975. The Centennial Anniversary of the school was celebrated in 1974 and a large majority of correspondence is associated with the Centennial Ball.
Hudson River Pilots Association Records, 1945-1968
The collection documents the activities of the Hudson River Pilots Association, the professional organization of state and federally licensed harbor pilots for the Hudson River. The collection includes pilot log books, summary ledgers, meeting minutes, a members’ agreement, bylaws, and a New York State Senate bill.
India House Records, 1830-2014
The India House collection contains materials related to Executive Meeting Minutes, publications, events, Art Committee Meeting Minutes and some correspondence.
Research materials are majority textual with some photographs and 2 DVDs of photographs.
International Students Organization
Photographs and records documenting the activities of the International Students Organization at SUNY Maritime College.
James McNamara Collection of Ships Plans, 1944-2005
A collection of large scale vessel plans; primarily for cargo vessels, but includes a few bulk carriers, tankers, and barges. Close to 800 ships originating from over 20 countries are represented. Please email library@sunymaritime.edu to obtain item-level spreadsheet listing ship name, type, shipyard/builder, country, and date.
