Herbert Lee Seward Collection of Naval Architectural Plans, Technical Specifications, and Other Material, 1889-1955
Collection of naval architectural plans, naval architectural and engineering specifications, and subject files addressing various aspects of ship construction and components, assembled by Mr. Seward, a naval architect, marine engineer, and educator. The architectural plans, created by the firm William Cramp and Sons, date from the early 20th century. Some items in the collection were probably originally obtained by two colleagues of Mr. Seward, Axel Rossell and Horace H. Thayer.
Hudson River Pilots Association Records, 1945-1968
The collection documents the activities of the Hudson River Pilots Association, the professional organization of state and federally licensed harbor pilots for the Hudson River. The collection includes pilot log books, summary ledgers, meeting minutes, a members’ agreement, bylaws, and a New York State Senate bill.
James McNamara Collection of Ships Plans, 1944-2005
A collection of large scale vessel plans; primarily for cargo vessels, but includes a few bulk carriers, tankers, and barges. Close to 800 ships originating from over 20 countries are represented. Jerry Antos and Michael Perdoncin Oral History Interview
Jerry Antos is a retired Lieutenant for the SUNY Maritime College campus police force. Michael Perdoncin was a coworker of Antos and is the current Lieutenant for the SUNY Maritime College campus police force. In this interview they both reminisce on their time spent at SUNY Maritime college, how things have changed since Jerry Antos started in the 1980's, the trials and tribulations of being a campus police officer, and their favorite work stories.
John J. Collins Papers, 1940-1957
John S. Tate Papers, 1939-1980
The collection contains ninety-seven documents, eighty-nine of which are Certificates of Discharge issued by the Bureau of Marine Inspection and Navigation of the United States Coast Guard during the period from 1939 to 1980. Ports mentioned include New York, Baltimore and Houston. Among the names of ships are the STEEL SURVEYOR and the STEEL AGE. The remaining documents consists of other types of certificates and licenses related to Tate's career.
John Stansbury Baylis Papers, 1884-1969
The collection documents the career, activities, and interests of Captain John Stansbury Baylis (1884-1971), a 1903 alumnus of SUNY Maritime College with a distinguished maritime career of almost 40 years.
Lillian C. Liburdi Borrone Papers, 1962-2008
This collection documents Lillian C. Liburdi Borrone's extensive career in the maritime and transportation industries, from her days a college student through her tenure as Assistant Executive Director of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and her subsequent retirement. Items in the collection include photographs, correspondence, awards, certificates, news and journal articles, scrapbooks, published works, and plaques.
