Abstract

The collection documents the career and life of Frederick S. Scope and Contents The schoolship Newport, a sail-steam hybrid gunboat was used by the New York Nautical School (now SUNY Maritime College) to train young men for careers in the Merchant Marines and the Naval Reserves.
