United States Maritime Service Enrollment Forms, circa 1946-1948

Scope and Contents

These files contain enrollment forms from the United States Maritime Service for students of New York State Maritime Academy (now SUNY Maritime College). The forms state the students were enrolled with the Maritime Service as Apprentice Seamen. A signed oath of enrollment is included on the forms. There are no dates written on the enrollments forms but the envelope they were found in states that they are from 1946-1948.

Appointments to Merchant Marine Reserve, U.S. Naval Reserve, 1943 - 1944

Scope and Contents

These files contain letters from the United States Navy Department to the Superintendent of the New York State Maritime Academy (now SUNY Maritime College). The letters are in regards to the appointments of graduating students as Midshipmen in the Merchant Marine Reserve and the U.S. Naval Reserve. Unlike other years, these particular letters from 1943-1944 were filed separately from the individual student files.
