Minutes of the Maritime College Council, 1955 - 1961
Scope and Contents
Minutes of most of the meetings held by the Council from January 20, 1955 to May 15, 1961. In addition to the minutes, files often include related correspondence, memoranda and drafts or working papers. Most meetings were held at Maritime College, but some were held in other locations in Manhattan. Mr. Vander Clute was chairman from 1955 to 1960, while Admiral George M. Wauchope became chairman in the middle of 1960.
The file for the meeting of July 13, 1960 contains a listing of all the Council meetings held from this date back to January 20, 1955.
Also included are Minutes of the Board of Visitors (predecessor group to the College Council) from a meeting on January 27, 1953 at the Whitehall Club at 17 Battery Place in Manhattan.
