World War I Medal Issued by the State of New York, circa 1919
Scope and Contents
This series consists of certificates, licenses, and awards reflecting the arch of Tode's career.
Printed materials include Tode's diploma from the New York Nautical School; licenses issued by the Department of Commerce qualifying him to serve on various types of vessels; certificates issued by the U.S. Navy regarding his service; certificates of appointment to various positions, including as Chief Engineer of the Schoolship Newport, Vice President of the National Safety Council, and member of the New York State Merchant Marine Academy Board of Visitors; and certifcates of appreciation for his service in the Propeller Club. An item-level inventory is avaialable upon request and located at the front of box 15.
Three dimensional objects include plaques, a paperweight, a record of graduation from the New York Nautical School folded into a leather case, and medals awarded for service in the U.S. Navy.
