Chronologically Arranged Correspondence, 1914 - 1952
Scope and Contents
This series consists of professional correspondence that tracks the trajectory of Tode's career as a merchant mariner and engineer. Occasionally there are clippings, applications, certificates, or other supporting documents pertaining to the subject matter of the letters.
The bulk of the items are chronlogically arranged; correspondents include the Lighthouse Service of the Department of Commerce; New York Nautical School; Sperry Gyroscope Company; Worthington Pump and Machinery Corporation; General Electric Company; McIntosh and Seymour Corporation; E.L. Phillips and Company; John Stansbury Baylis; United States Coast Guard; Combustion Utilities Corporation; State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors; Texas Company; State of New York; National Safety Council; and the California Maritime Academy. There is also a letter from Franklin D. Roosevelt to Howard S. Cullman that mentions Tode dated November 14, 1925.
A smaller quantity of the correspondence is arranged alphabetically by subject (see file names for details).
