Scope and Contents

This series includes reports, memoranda, and clippings from magazines and newspapers. Many of these items pertain to the use of pulverized coal as a fuel for certain ships, a topic of great importance at the time. Tode gathered these materials in his capacity with the Texas Company.

Biographical / Historical

In the 1920s, Tode became the Technology Superintendent in the Marine Department of the Texas Company which had headquarters at 17 Battery Place in lower Manhattan in New York City. The Company was the manufacturer of the well-known Texaco Petroleum Products.
